THE HISTORY OF WORROWING

Worrowing is perched high on a basalt ridge above eucalypt forests and distant mountains, along the historic Wool Road. The estate rests on the lands of the Dhurga-speaking Wandi Wandean peoples. Its name comes from an Indigenous word meaning “small creek” - a reference to Worrowing Creek, which flows north into Bewherre (St Georges Basin).

Worrowing is layered with history: from Indigenous songlines and gathering places, to colonial farming, and later a haven for artists, travellers, and celebrations.

Today, the gardens and grounds are at the heart of the guest experience—where English-inspired landscapes meet the raw coastal beauty of Jervis Bay.
